What if I don't report a pet in a pet friendly apartment?

I have a little wiener dog and if I were to tell the apartment office I planned to take her with me, I'd have to pay an extra $50 a month, which I find quite ridiculous; that dog doesn't even cost me half of what I'd have to pay just to feed and take care of her every month. I know they technically charge pet rent for damages, however why the hell am I going to pay for damages that haven't happened yet and most likely won't considering I don't have issues with my dog damaging anything and she is also house broken; if I knew she was destructive, then I wouldn't mind. Anyhow, opinions? Has anyone done this before and gotten away with it?
